So let me guess, either you are in Goa OR planning to visit Goa. And you are also looking for best places to eat Goan food in Goa. Right?? Cool.
In my recent visit to south goa, I had no plan what all places to visit. But I was sure that I was going to the famous Martin’s corner in South Goa.
As always my foodie husband Aditya suggested this place. And when I checked its goan food pictures online, OMG, so much of ridiculously yummy looking food. We have to visit Martin’s corner, I told Aditya.
Martin’s Corner – In South Goa (Betalbatim)
During my visit to South Goa, I had stayed at Alagoa Resort. And the best part was,Martin’s corner was just 15 – 20 minutes walk able distance from Alagoa.
During those 3 days, I visited Martin’s corner 3 times for lunch and dinner.
How Was The Ambiance:
Its full of Goan vibes. Happening, best for friends, family.
I had goan in rainy season which is ideally off season in Goa. Inspite of that, every time I visited Marin’s corner for lunch, the place was 70-80 % full.
It has AC as well as Non AC sections. I would recommend to sit in non-AC which will give you more authentic goan experience.
This place in famous in foreigners too. In non AC section there is a small bar where people can sit and enjoy drinks.
Have you ever listened goan music??
If you come late evening then there you will see some singer/musicians playing music singing songs.
Now Tell Me About Food:
Martin’s corner is famous for authentic goan food. Plus you will also get other dishes like pasta, caesar salad ect.
When you are in Goa then I highly recommend to try typical Goan fish curry and rice. Goan fish curry normally contains prawns in it. If you are not from India and dont eat spicy food much then you may find it little spicy.
All you have to do is, mix goan fish curry with rice and enjoy.
At Martin’s corner they have a fish counter in non AC section where raw fishes are kept. If you wish to have a particular fish dish then you can ask the waiter how the fish looks like.
In my first visit here, I had ordered crab and was not sure about the size. The waiter happily brought the live crab and showed it to us. Later he also asked if I wish to hold him and click a picture 😛
Overall food was super super delicious. Crab and chicken dishes we ordered were made in typical goan masala (spices) and were little spicy.
We ordered all these food. Except tom yum soup everything was delicious.
…the most delicious crabs I ever had.. its made in goan masala…..cheese cake with bluberry sauce on top of it…
..tomyum soup ..the only dish which I did not like…
..chicken caesar salad…
…prawns in goan malasa..little spicy, juicy and crunchy..in spot its was yum…
Value for Money??
Except the crabs with goan masala, all other items were well priced. When I visited, it was a off season. In peak season, I assume the prices may lean towards higher side.
They accept cards as well as cash.
As far as service is concerned I had a mixed experience. First day, the person who served us was very friendly and suggested us various good dishes. Served very well.
Second day, another person but experience was more or like the same.
But on the third day, the person was least interested in his job with almost no smile on his face. I guess, he has a not so good day.
Overall, service was good 🙂
If you are in South Goa, I highly recommend everyone to visit this place for goan food.
